CaseBank Technologies, a leading provider of interactive, guided diagnostic systems that improve  first-time success rates of unplanned maintenance and repairs, today announced that it has completed development and delivery of an engine diagnostic tool, powered by SpotLight®, for Pratt and Whitney Canada’s PW200 family of engines, manufactured exclusively for helicopter applications. The PW200 series of engines–deployed on a multitude of helicopters manufactured by AgustaWestland, Bell, Eurocopter and MD Helicopters–also includes the new PW210S for the new, twin-engine Sikorsky S-76D helicopter.

“This interactive tool gives our technicians access to an interactive, diagnostic system that contains well over 1,700 technical solutions to help us serve our customers,” said Raffaele Virgili, Vice President, Customer Service, P&WC.

The PW200 SpotLight knowledgebase-developed, validated and fully tested in six months-is the first all-helicopter project for CaseBank, enhancing and replacing the OEM fault isolation manual for PW200 engines, and including dynamic generation of printable troubleshooting charts. Over time, the knowledgebase will grow incrementally as the system captures and preserves the collective field experience of customers around the world. In the case of the PW210S engine for the Sikorsky S-76D, the diagnostic knowledgebase will also support the new helicopter engine’s certification process.

“We are excited and proud to have successfully and rapidly developed a SpotLight diagnostic system for the PW200 family of engines,” said Tony O’Hara, CEO of CaseBank Technologies. “Although this is our first helicopter-specific project, it is the third Pratt & Whitney engine family that we have supported, ensuring vital troubleshooting expertise is available to technicians, when and where they need it most-during unplanned maintenance, anywhere in the world.”

Containing over 1,700 solutions, the SpotLight knowledgebase for the complete PW200 family also features a built-in Decision Tree Generator-available as well for the PW100 and PW300 engine families-that digitally generates decision trees or charts for conventional Fault Isolation Manuals, on the fly.

SpotLight is an advanced software solution that is unique in its ability to deliver global field experience to every technician during the troubleshooting process, in order to pinpoint post-production faults, reduce troubleshooting time, and boost availability of equipment. Browser-based and extremely portable, it can be taken and used everywhere via laptop, hand-held device, tablet PC and smartphone.

SpotLight utilizes a unique and patented form of hybrid reasoning that mimics the differential diagnosis approach used by physicians and other experts to isolate the root cause of a problem and its solution rapidly.

To-date numerous aircraft and engine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as well as large fleet operators, have adopted SpotLight to drive the success rates of first time repairs.
