ATP Discusses Cyber-Physical Systems At Doing MRO In Canada Conference

ATP’s Chief Strategy Officer, Phil D’Eon, discussed these topics at the Doing MRO in Canada Conference organized by Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC) and held on October 29, 2018. This event focused on the Canadian aerospace MRO Sector with the goal of developing a dialogue to collaborate on strategic issues facing the sector. During the panel discussion titled, “Does Industry 4.0 = MRO 4.0?”, Phil brought up several issues facing MROs today.

More specifically, Phil presented information about machines that predict failures and trigger maintenance processes automatically and illustrated this with ATP Software Solutions’ troubleshooting ecosystem. It connects a Data Download Analyzer for data that comes directly from the aircraft with the ChronicX® Recurring Defect Management Solution that collects maintenance information from airlines around the world to identify recurring defects, and with the SpotLight® Interactive Troubleshooting Solution, which provides troubleshooting guidance, based on global experience, to all mechanics working on that aircraft.

In his presentation, Phil also considered proactive and reactive maintenance, the difficulties and limitations of high-volume digital data downloads –  quality versus quantity – and proprietary constraints.

A Successful Night at Doing MRO in Canada Conference

The Doing MRO in Canada Conference, in its second edition, with more than 150 participants from Canada and beyond, proved to be very successful. It was a great opportunity to network and learn about the experiences and views of the different speakers and panellists that came from a variety of businesses and interests, including MRO supply chain, government and regulatory agencies, academia and aerospace.
